Over-posting & Suppression

When a creator publishes too many videos in a single day, TikTok may limit distribution for the batch — not just the newest posts, but all videos from that day. trackagoat detects this pattern and surfaces a warning on Creator Insights and Video Insights.

What triggers the warning

What triggers the warning

The warning fires when all three of these are true for the same creator on the same day:

  1. ≥ 7 videos posted on a single calendar day (in the org's timezone).
  2. ≥ 2 of those videos had fewer than 100 views at least 2 hours after posting.
  3. Those low-view videos were confirmed in our stats snapshots — not just zero on day one.

The "2+ hours" window rules out videos that are simply new. A video that genuinely has under 100 views two hours in almost certainly received no distribution at all.

Why TikTok does this

TikTok's recommendation system rates each account's post frequency. When the system detects an unusually high number of posts from one account in a short window, it may:

  • Limit feed injection for the day's posts across all audience segments.
  • Suppress the pushed-post batch, sending all videos directly to the creator's existing followers rather than to non-follower For You pages.
  • Carry suppression forward, reducing organic reach for subsequent posts until the account re-establishes a normal cadence.

This is an inferred model based on observed patterns — TikTok does not publicly document its suppression criteria.

How to respond

Reduce daily posting frequency. Spreading the same content across 2–3 days typically results in significantly more aggregate reach than publishing everything at once.

Re-publish affected videos. A video that was suppressed can sometimes be re-published (new upload) to re-enter the distribution queue. Performance is not guaranteed but it gives the algorithm a fresh chance.

Check posting schedule in Content Calendar. Use the Content Calendar view to identify days where a creator is planning multiple posts and space them out.

Review the Video Insights heatmap. The Posting Time Heatmap on the Video Insights page shows posting frequency by hour and day of week — use it to identify systematic over-posting patterns.

Severity

Badge colorMeaning
Amber (⚠)Incident within the last 7 days — actionable now
Neutral (ℹ)Historical incident — useful context, no immediate action needed

Thresholds

The detection uses conservative defaults to minimize false positives:

ThresholdDefaultMeaning
Min posts per day7Days with fewer posts won't trigger detection
View floor100Views at 2h+ post-publish; below this is flagged
Min suppressed videos2Single low-view video is insufficient — needs ≥ 2

These are conservative by design. A creator who occasionally posts 7 times and has one video under 100 views won't be flagged — the pattern requires multiple videos clearly receiving no distribution on the same over-posting day.
